How does the Centre Yourself line differ from products that can be found in drug stores or department stores?

The most important part of the skin is the dermis, which holds living cells that eventually migrate to the epidermis. The uppermost layer, the epidermis contains all the dead skin cells. This layer is constantly exfoliating itself, sometimes unevenly and/or at an abnormal rate.

At The Centre, P.C., we want to ensure that unwanted byproducts of sun exposure and the natural aging process, such as hyperpigmentation (age spots), acne, fine wrinkles and precancerous cells left in the epidermis, are eradicated with exfoliation. Our goal is to constantly keep the dermis healthy through controllable, healthy exfoliation and by turning on genes to promote the production of time-withering elements, such as collagen, fatty tissue, elastin, hyluranic acid and vibrant, healthy blood cells. The Centre Yourself line does this in many ways.

How do you know the Centre Yourself products are effective?

Our skin care ingredients are backed by double-blind, placebo-controlled studies conducted by the North American medical industry and substantiated and validated in peer-reviewed literature. The dermatological gold standards of anti-aging ingredients begin and finish with stable and properly dosed protocol forms of vitamin A acid, antioxidants, and alpha and beta hydroxy acids. These gold standards have the most peer-reviewed data and studies available to predict sustainable results in the human skin mantle. All other skin care ingredients, such as those in over-the-counter cosmetics, have second-tier effectiveness within the skin and can only hope to attain weaker results than the first tier.

How should I use the products?

Our approach is very simple. Studies have shown that if you use the same products day after day, year after year, your skin will cease to respond to even the most physiologically responsive skin care formulations. This condition is called tachyphylaxis. Skin becomes immune to changes, turning dull and unresponsive.

However, by following our skin care regimen, we constantly keep the skin in a state of regeneration by introducing different key products on alternating nights for six days. At the end of the week, we give the skin a rest from the regimen and exfoliate it with a safe usage product. This approach not only improves the permeability of the skin, it also helps to regenerate glycosaminoglycans in the dermis. Glycosaminoglycans turn on the genes that produce the necessary proteins and elastin fibers to aid in skin firming and youthfulness. After the first week, you begin the previous week's protocol again. Definite results can be seen as early as one to two weeks and sometimes earlier depending on your current skin care program.
